BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — DENSO Corporation has named Shingo Kuwamura president of its DENSO Manufacturing Michigan, Inc. (DMMI) operations in Battle Creek, Mich., effective June 27. In addition to this role, Kuwamura will serve as executive vice president of Manufacturing for DENSO International America, Inc., DENSO’s North American corporate headquarters and CEO of DENSO’s Thermal Systems North American Center. Kuwamura succeeds Akeshi “John” Kumagai, who will return to Japan to serve as global president of DENSO Air Systems.
Kuwamura joined DENSO Corporation in 1982. Early in his career, he helped begin operations at DENSO Manufacturing Tennessee, Inc. and DENSO Mexico, S.A. de. C.V. He then later returned to North America to serve as director of the Instrument Cluster Division and the Logistics Center at DENSO Manufacturing Tennessee.
In 2005, Kuwamura was named general manager of DENSO Corporation’s Strategic Production Planning Department in Japan, where he led global production strategy planning and helped strengthen DENSO’s global production system. In 2009, Kuwamura was named one of DENSO’s executive directors and most recently was responsible for the Machinery & Tools, Construction, Strategic Production Planning, Production Control and Logistics Planning Departments.
